Update

Hey guys! Its been almost a month and im sure it has seemed that i vanished. In fact i have been out exploring some new areas of NYC that i thought would be most enjoyable. With the summer coming and school being out there is plenty to do. But the first point that must be made is that sadly Bank on Saturday nights has been closed. It was a good run and there was never a shortage of friends to meet, drink and party with. We hope that Larry T will again grace us with another of his parties. But when one party dies another must also be opened or re-invented and that is what im going to talk about now.

I have wrote about this club before and talked about its make-over but some news came to me that will prolly be the best news this club can over. If you live in NYC you have probably heard of Heaven (now renamed Rush) and through the years many stories have come from that club and specially their Saturday college gay night. Well the biggest thing that has kept people away is gone. Last weekend the new management of Rush decided that due to declining attendance Tony G & GayCollegeParty.com will no longer be working there and conducting the Saturday night party! This may come as good news to some and i hope that many will come back to this club and discover its makeover. While one promoter is gone DJ Steve Sidewalk, Charles Winters, GaySocialites & Alixandria will continue to host and bring flair to Rush on Saturdays!

Club of the Week (4-18-07)

This weeks club is somewhat of a staple in the Chelsea scene. Known for its live performance from Britney Spears and its onstage showers, Splash Bar NYC is the place many people, both native NYers and travelers, always seem to know about.
Splash has a very diverse weekly lineup that will appeal to many different groups. This gay owned and operated bar mixes big muscle men bartenders with drag queens, college twinks and sometimes the occasional porn star. With such a lineup its not strange that during a night you will see many different people that you might not see at your usual club.
- Starting the week off on Monday, Splash has its "Musical Mondays" where you can come and see and hear songs from some of your favorite musicals and broadway hits.
- Tuesday Splash presents "Ocean" with a mix of hip-hop, reggaetone and house music as well as a few different celebs you just might run into. Using both floors and covering all the beats you could ever imagine its a night to just let loose and you never know what might happen!
- Wednesday "Moulin Rouge" with Bianca Del Rio takes over with all kinds of drag acts and a "Drag Attack" contest. If you want to see some good performances or get a laugh out of the crass and spectacular Bianca then you'll see.
- Thursday turns into an all out frat boi college party with "Campus Thursdays" presented by Boiparty & Alan Picus. Alan brings his band of sexy and scandalous go-go bois to Splash bars and even brings them into the showers for a steamy end to a def steamy night of dancing and music.
- Friday Mark Nelson brings you "Full Frontal Friday". With celebrity DJ's and a full array of bois from all over its one way to start your weekend. With a special 2-4-1 Happy Hour starting at 4pm you should have no trouble finding what your looking for (or atleast give your weekend a little kick).
- Saturday becomes a massive playground for MEN as Aaron Tanner makes Splash into a plaground for men who just wanna be with men. With a variety of shows and hardcord beats from many DJs from around the country, Saturday is the day where Splash lets loose and lets men be men!
- Sunday Splash brings you the perfect way to unwind after the weekend. With DJ Lady Bunndy bringing you "Disco Tea", playing all your disco favorites from 4-9, and Trai La' Trash hosting bringo at 5, its def a good way to wind down to a 9pm showing of Desperate Housewives before you prepare for another week of work.

Splash is located at 50 West 17th Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues) in NYC's Chelsea district and is 21+

HK Lounge Grand Opening

Last Friday i had the joy of attending the Grand Opening of HK Lounge. I was more than impressed by this club when i got there. You walk into this space through a pair of frosted glass doors that lead you into a small patio type room for smoking with a coi pond to one side. Passing through that patio you step into the main room with comfortable seating on one side, an elevated DJ booth and well stocked bar. Ascending glass and marble stairs you walk into a more intimate seating area that also doubles as a roof deck. On cold days HK can close its roof to allow for a warm, relaxed seating area. But on a nice warm summer day the roof retracts making a very nice roof deck. With all the glass, mirrors & white stone, HK is def a nice place to go and relax. Aside from the remarkable atmosphere HK also has a long list of liquor at very reasonable prices.

So next week make a change from your usual hangouts and check out HK Lounge. HK is located at 405 West 39th Street between 9th & 10th Avenues.

Club of the Week (4-11-07)

This week i decided to take a step back from the so called "main-line" clubs and instead feature a more laid back club/lounge. While most people think that going out requires big clubs, loud music and large crowds of people, there are still many who enjoy the small lounges with good music and a calm atmosphere to meet and socialize with friends old and new. It is in this mind set that i have chosen Plumm as this weeks club.
Plumm is located on 14th Street between 7th & 8th Avenues. With a warm environment, good staff and some great DJs we love, Plumm is the perfect place to come and relax any day of the week. The club is a mixed club but if your looking for a more gay time then swing by on a Monday and join Patrick McMullen for his Monday's Hard. Patrick & P.I.N.K Vodka have joined up for a 9pm-10pm open P.I.N.K bar and continue through the night with friends, celebrities and many cute bois you just wont see at a more crowded club.
Plumm's intimacy is what first caught my eye. As you walk in you take in the main floor with woodwork, warm lighting and generous seating to just sink into. As you move around the club you get a chance to really just mix into a crowd of people from many different areas of life.

Plumm is located on 14th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

Avalon Grand Opening a Hit!

For any who ventured out last Saturday night to experience the Grand Opening of Avalon, i'm sure you'll agree with me that even with the long lines and wait it was well worth it!
With the line starting to form at 10pm for an 11pm opening, many stood outside of Avalon waiting to be the first through the door. By 10:30 the line stretched down 20th Street and at one point was well past where Avalon ends. But everyone standing there that i talked to was excited and anxious to get through to the door and have a great night. The security at Avalon and the doorguys, Acid Betty and Derek, did a great job of getting everyone into the club as fast as possible while still maintaining order.
Once you got through the door and the cashiers you were greeted with 3 floors packed with hot bois, great music and friends re-united. DJ Bret Henrichson was spinning his House & Pop Remixes on the main floor while DJ Adam turned out the electronica & techno in the chapel & DJ Seth Gold kept it hopping in the Spiderclub with his pop & hip-hop, there was no place that you couldn't go and find both the music and the bois that you were looking for and not worry about your friends not liking it.

While many thought that this event was just a quick flash on the scene and wouldnt last, this saturday def started to prove them wrong. With lines forming again and many anxious bois waiting to party all night John Blair, Michael Formika Jones & Alan Picus didnt pull any punches and made sure to give all the bois the best night of the week.
DJ Hex Hector thumped the main floor with his house and tribal beats and made sure that noone left his room disappointed. DJ Adam kepted all his freak, geeks & club kids in the chapel in line with his techno and electronica beats that pleased them all. And we cant forget the Spiderclub where DJ Jon Jon Battles partied on all night with the live drummer and all the latest hip-hop/pop music.

So if you havent had a chance to check out the reinvention of this legendary night club you definatley should make it a point to get out and check this club and all its glory and wickedness next week.
